Information
We are thrilled to announce that our ongoing project, the renewal of “Shikoku Mura Museum”, has been honored with the prestigious “Mecena Grand Prize” as part of the Mecena Awards 2024, hosted by the Association for Corporate Support of the Arts.
The Shikoku Mura Museum, founded in the autumn of 1976 by our late founder, Mr. Tatsuo Kato, is an open-air museum curating and exhibiting 33 historical buildings constructed in the four prefectures of Shikoku during the Edo to Taisho periods. Our efforts to preserve and convey our ancestors’ lifestyle and culture were recognized in 1994 with the “Regional Mecena Award”.
Nearly three decades later, significant enhancements were made to the museum in 2022, including renaming it “Shikoku Mura Museum”, establishing a new entrance building called “Oyane-san”, visualizing the lifestyle and activities of our predecessors through multimedia, and opening a storage facility housing important tangible folk-cultural properties. These social contributions have culminated in our reception of the “Mecena Grand Prize”.
The LEC in KATOLEC’s name stands for our two main business units, Logistics and Electronics, and the Culture that we are committed to preserving for future generations.
KATOLEC is dedicated to the continued support and revitalization of regional culture.
